Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, and Geoinformation for the Earth Under Stress
joint PhD colloquium of the Section on Geoinformatics of the German Geodetic Commission (DGK) and the German Society for Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Geoinformation (DGPF)
to be held on March 12, 2024, in Remagen
prior to the DGPF annual conference
Climate change, natural disasters, and rapid land consumption due to a globally growing urban population are increasingly influencing life on planet Earth. The contributions of photogrammetry, remote Sensing, and geoinformation science to coping with these challenges are manifold. Common to the three research areas is the development of computational methods for providing reliable and up-to-date information to adjacent scientific disciplines, such as Earth system science, urban planning, and disaster management.
This colloquium invites PhD students to present recent methodological work in this context. Topics of interest include but are not limited to new developments in Deep Learning, algorithmic data analytics, agent-based simulations, and geovisualization.
We encourage the submission of abstracts on
- geodata analytics and geovisualization for all aspects of sustainability, e.g.,
- Earth observation in the context of climate change and disaster resilience
- movement data analysis for sustainable mobility
- data analysis for sustainable agriculture
- ...
- current trends in computing, even if the focus topic of the colloquium is only implicitly addressed, e.g.,
- machine learning, in particular deep learning for geospatial data
- efficient algorithms and data structures as well as new algorithmic paradigms for handling spatial and spatio-temporal data
- computational frameworks for big geospatial data
- optimization algorithms
- agent-based simulations
- ...

Abstracts
Abstracts should not exceed 500 words. They should briefly describe the most important methodological contribution originating from a PhD project, ideally provide a connection to the title of the PhD colloquium, and clarify the next research steps towards the completion of the PhD.
