Working Group "Astronomische, Physikalische und Mathematische Geodäsie (APMG)"
The Astronomical, Physical and Mathematical Geodesy (APMG) group conducts research in the following areas:
- Sea level change, ocean surface and topography, vertical land motion, radar altimetry data exploration
- Hydrospheric, oceanic and atmospheric mass transports and time-variable gravity field, analysis and assessment of satellite missions e.g. GRACE or Swarm, superconducting gravimetry
- Satellite orbits, Earth’s thermosphere and gravity field, analysis of tracking data and accelerometry
In these fields, we seek further understanding of the Earth system by confronting numerical model simulations with (mostly satellite) observations. We develop advanced data analyses schemes and work towards efficient inversion and model-data integration approaches.
We collaborate with numerous national and international partners and institutions.
